Handbuilt Ceramics by Martin Smith (1950- )
Interested in the changing state of clay, Martin Smith continued altering his ceramics by cutting and grinding after forming their shape by press moulding or throwing. The result shows his contemplation on the contrats of interior and exterior. A key figure in British ceramics, Smith is represented in public collections such as the Victoria and Albert Museum, the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
