Born in in 1936, Gambone followed in the footsteps of his father Guido, a well-established ceramist in the first half of the 1900s. After an apprenticeship under his father, Gambone moved on to painting. In the 1960s, he held solo shows all over the world, bonding with friends such as Andy Warhol and Lucio Fontana. He came back to ceramics in 1969, after moving back to Florence to manage the family company when his father died.
